Darren is currently in Kentucky competing in various events in the Kentucky Derby Classic.

He has progressed to round 8 in the "one pocket" tournament and has a first round match in the 9 ball challenge tournament against, wait for it, Liz Lovely.

In the one pocket he looks to be down to the final 16 players with some of the usual suspects there. Not sure how the comp works though as some people have lost and then "bought" back in.

In any case a great effort and hopefully more to come.

Keep an eye on theactionreport.com which has live streaming from the event.

Mostly very boring but they seem to have a nightly slot now for Daz and Karl Boyes which seems to be gathering a cult following!

It's basically Daz calling everyone "pal" for half an hour....

Daz lost to Pagulayan in round 10 and quite right Toaster was down to last 9 players,a fantastic effort.

He has won his round 2 game against Ben Heywood and now plays Ben Zimmer in round 3.

Well, Zimmer clearly needed to "frame" himself as Dyno has taken care of him.

Have you seen Daz's interview for InsidePool??!! He manages to incredibly go five minutes without calling anyone pal!!

Daz lost in rounds 4 and 5 so is out but he has qualified for the "straight pools final day" today. He is playing Feijen first to 150!!!!!

Rocket can you shed any light on this, would he have had to qualify?sounds like a bit of an achievement!

Where do i begin. Yes Darren had to qualify and then beat a world class field to reach the final. This in its self is an awesome feat. Then you look at his finish in the one pocket with the same world class field.I cannot b
egin to tell you how incredible a result that is.
The trouble when we look at Darrens results is that we are so used to see him winning everything we almost expect these kind of finishes.
To my knowledge there has never been a one pocket event held in this country , and as for the straight pool its a minority sport outside the states at best. One pocket is the most skillfull game i have ever seen played on any billiard table and it is common knowledge that the only way to succeed is through years of playing and learning the moves and strategies.
I dont think Darren has played more than two one pocket events in his life and he never practises. His finish in this event is amazing........
He truelly is already world class on the american tables , but if he continues to progress at this rate he will end up one of the alltime greats.
As a pool league we should all be very proud that he is in our midst...

Well done Dyno, you only need to win the mosconi to get on a par with The Rocket now! I'm sure like me everyone in our league is truly proud of you, couldn't happen to a nicer fella, PAL!

You can only go on standby for the big 1 next week as it's now full, unless somebody pulls out.
