Disputes Sheets

Postby aconite » Wed Feb 10, 2010 5:56 pm

This is something I meant to bring up at the AGM but I slept in :? due to being very drunk. Where a game is disputed for whatever reason, the idea that the ref's decision is final is not always satisfactory, especially when the ref says he wasn't watching. If there was a standard sheet that had to be completed prior to the start of the next frame, and only by the captain, explaining why the game is disputed, and presented to the opposing captain before the next frame starts, then this could be brought up at the next meeting and voted on. It might be caused by a lack of clarification of an obscure EPA rule perhaps. I did design a sheet that could be used for this purpose and could provide it again if the league wanted to go with this idea. It has certain advantages, one would be that it could avoid unpleasantness on the night, and another is that the league can do something about it, if the same teams are having disputed frames every week or at every meeting. Last year when I suggested this after two marathon disputes dragged on for months, Dave B said the league rules couldn't be changed except by in an AGM or in an 'extraordinary' meeting. Well maybe, but if we get a similar problem with this year perhaps we can consider this option....Frankie Monk

I forgot there was a Leeds Premier Pool League section in the forum. You probably need to bring it up at the next meeting as I don't think the guy who runs that league will come onto this forum.

Yes I am on this forum now and Frankie has already spoken to me on this subject at our presentation night and he can mention it again at the next meeting if he manages to stay sober (stays under his 2 pints limit) and turn up to the meeting on time. For those people that was not at the Leeds Premier presentation night I'd just like to let you all know that the turn gave Frankie a new nickname "HARRY POTTER" You can thank me for divulging that information to everyone next week when we come to the Monk to knock you out of the cup. Cheers......Dave B (the guvnor)

Dream on...'Harry' may have a 2 pint limit but not me, I think you may be getting a bit mixed up Dave (addled due to your 22 pint limit). Ok... what I will do when I get a chance is re-design the sheet and then it will be up to the league if and when they want to consider it. I don't mind either way its just a suggestion. Now I'm just going back to my spellbook, I'll try and think up a good one for you Dave... :o
